Frequently asked questions about Bekon

How is Bekon different from SEO?

SEO improves how you rank in search results like Google. Bekon works on a different surface: GEO and AEO (Generative Engine Optimization and Answer Engine Optimization), which is how AI assistants understand your brand and whether they recommend you in their answers. The two overlap, though traditional SEO tools do not measure whether ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude name you, and that is exactly what Bekon tracks and improves.

Do I need to be technical to use Bekon?

No. You point Bekon at your website and it runs the analysis for you, then generates the fixes. You choose how to apply each one: copy the generated content and paste it into your site yourself, or push it live through the Cloudflare integration. It works whether or not you have a developer on hand.

Does Bekon work for a brand-new website?

Yes. Bekon works for brand-new sites and established ones alike. It is especially useful early, when you are shaping how AI assistants describe your brand from the start rather than correcting a picture that has already formed.

What does the AI visibility score measure?

Your AI visibility score measures how often AI models recommend your brand when people ask about your category. Bekon runs vertical-aware prompts across the models your customers use, scores your presence per model and per prompt, then distills the result into a single percentage. A higher score means AI names you more often instead of your competitors.

Which AI models does Bekon check?

Bekon checks up to six AI models: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, and Perplexity. It queries them with real, parallel API calls, so your scores reflect what each model answers in practice. How many models you get depends on your plan: the Starter plan covers three, while the Growth and Enterprise plans cover all six. Compare the plans.

Does Bekon just tell me what is wrong, or does it fix it?

Bekon fixes it. Most AI-visibility tools hand you a score and a list of suggestions; Bekon generates the fix, ships it, then re-checks the result. That continuous loop of analyze, diagnose, improve, publish, and track is the whole point of the product. You can read the full walkthrough.

What technical issues does Bekon look for, and how do fixes reach my site?

Bekon audits the signals that decide whether AI models can read and trust your pages: llms.txt, schema markup, metadata, page structure, and entity signals. It ranks every fix by impact, so you start with the quick wins. To apply a fix, you copy the generated content into your site yourself, or push it live automatically through the Cloudflare Pages integration you configure in Settings. See the detail in Technical Improvements.

How does competitor benchmarking work?

Competitor benchmarking maps your Share of Voice across every prompt and provider, then shows where you stand against each competitor. Bekon surfaces which brands AI names instead of you, what is making them rank higher, and which sources the models cite for them. You can view the output per model to see exactly where a competitor is winning. Explore it in Competitor Benchmark.

Where do the prompts Bekon tracks come from, and can I add my own?

The prompts come from the real questions buyers ask AI assistants, organized by funnel stage (Awareness, Consideration, and Decision) inside Bekon Spotlight. Bekon scores your performance on each prompt, and you can add your own prompts or toggle which ones count in your analysis. This keeps your score tied to the questions that matter for your brand. See more in Prompt Intelligence.

What does Content Studio produce, and how is it different from a generic AI writer?

Content Studio drafts the articles, threads, and social posts that earn AI mentions, written in your brand voice and publishable straight to your channels. What sets it apart from a generic AI writer is the input and the scoring: it reads your competitive gaps and shows a live GEO Score Prediction out of 100 that updates as you edit, so each draft targets the content AI is likely to recommend. See it in Content Studio.

What is the difference between the Watch, Maintain, and Autopilot workflows?

The three workflows differ by how much Bekon does on its own. Watch is available today: Bekon analyzes on a schedule and alerts you only when something material changes. Maintain and Autopilot are coming soon. Maintain will go further, diagnosing what is holding you back and drafting the fixes for you to approve before anything ships. Autopilot will run completely hands-off, diagnosing, deploying fixes, and re-analyzing to confirm the impact, then notifying you once a change lands. Set up a Watch workflow in Workflow Automations.

Can I approve changes before they go live?

Yes. Today nothing reaches your site without you: you apply each fix yourself, either by pasting the generated content into your site or by pushing it live through the Cloudflare integration. The Maintain workflow, coming soon, will draft fixes on a schedule and wait for your approval before anything ships. Autopilot, also coming soon, is for teams that would rather have Bekon deploy fixes on its own.

How often should I run a scan?

Scanning is manual by default, so you decide when to run one, and once or twice a week is plenty for most brands. If you would rather automate it, set up a Watch workflow in Workflow Automations, and Bekon re-scans on your schedule, then alerts you only when something material changes.

What happens after I apply a fix?

After your changes are live, run another scan and watch your visibility score respond, which confirms the fix had an effect. Once the Autopilot workflow launches, it will run that re-scan for you and notify you when the change takes effect.

Is there a free trial, and do I need a credit card?

Yes. Paid plans come with a 14-day free trial with full access to the dashboard. The trial needs a card, and you can cancel anytime before it ends. If you would rather start without a card, the free plan needs none: start it from the analyze bar on our homepage and get 3 prompt scans a week (12 a month) on up to 3 prompts, plus 3 generated fixes and 3 content pieces.
